Who is D?

Hi, this is me.  D.  Who am I?  What do I do?  Why the Organic Box blog?

This is me, D

Who is D?  Well, I just love food; have always loved it.  One of my earliest food memories is missing Russet apples when we moved abroad when I was 5.  I have friends at school who admitted to being jealous of the crunchy apples I saved from supper to cut into my breakfast cereals.  These days I also have three hungry people who live with me and are pretty keen on it too.  I am lucky enough to live in an area with a truly fantastic organic box scheme and a very innovative approach to communities ([1] growing communities).  Most of my friends and family rely on me as the first emergency food service as I have a collection of around 250 cookbooks (last counted in 2007 before the babies started appearing and I had to box some up).

What do I do other than blog?  Well, I have a couple of other interests which are under the affiliates links, most importantly selling and distributing the [2] baby massage poster that I drew and designed.  Another link is to my [3] artwork portfolio.  I also work part time in IT and am a servant of two rather small people, who are fantastic tasting panels and onion peelers.  I also occasionally cook on market stalls and do seasonal food demonstrations for events in London.

Why the Blog?  I like thinking about food.  I am a bit of a planner and a good socialite, but a bad personal diarist.  This is the perfect way of making me feel like I’m talking to someone, whilst actually finally diarising all my recipes and how I dispatch these boxes each week.  Each bag is like opening a present.  Each fruit and vegetable with its own story and potential.  I have friends who were moaning about the cabbages, the carrots, the endless potatoes; they have simply lost the thrill of it all.  I still find it magical and hope to recover people’s loss of connection with these fresh gifts from the farms surrounding London; rekindle the excitement on finding a cabbage in the bag…
