fruit: bananas, rhubarb, pears, Bonne Helene pears, Ruby Star grapefruit
veg: carrots, Sante potatoes, onions, aubergine, purple sprouting broccoli, green chard, Hackney salad, corriander
Corriander, aubergine and broccoli spell Thai green curry in our house, so that will kick off the weekend. The green chard will be used for chard and ricotta pasta sauce, possibly as a filling for canneloni if I have the inclination to find some.
I like the idea of doing potato wedges with the Sante potatoes ,served with sweet chilli sauce, sour cream and guacamole. They will go well with some bean burgers made using the carrots, and Hackney salad on the side.

There are a number of recipes for this about and it is really worth making. It takes 10 mins to prepare and is fantastic with a plate of risotto.
1 fennel
1 orange
12 black olives
glug olive oil
sprinkle of salt
Cut off base and tops of fennel and slice thinly from the bottom up. Cut the top and bottom off the orange, then carefully cut off all the peel and pith. Cut thin slices from the bottom up, then break them up a bit. Slice across the olives into thirds. Toss together all of the ingredients in a bowl and serve.

fruit: bananas, oranges, kiwi, Bonne Helene pears, apples
veg: onions, courgettes, mushrooms, beetroot, spinach, stir fry pack, carrots, potatoes
Another week, another load of fresh local produce. No ideas what kind of apples or potatoes, I’m afraid, as it’s not on the label. I’ve got some lovely things planned for this box. I’ve made some Gnudi this evening (balls of ricotta, parmesan and nutmeg rolled in polenta) and will have them with a spinach, garlic and mushroom sauce with plenty of parmesan. The stir fry pack will go into another noodle stir fry and this time I’m doing peanut butter noodles.
We’ve got lots of lovely chicken stock, so that’ll go into yet another Borscht, and if I can get hold of some peppers, I plan to make a mediteranean salad with courgettes, mushrooms, peppers, onions and a special soy and tomato puree sauce. Sounds weird, but it is oh so good. Perfect to master it ahead of the upcoming picnic and barbeque season. The recipe comes from one of the excellent Australian Women’s weekly cookbooks and I will hopefully get round to posting it this week.

fruit: avocado, apples, Tarocco blood oranges, bananas
veg: fennel, organic stirfry veg, mixed salad, purple sprouting broccoli, parsnips, carrots, onions, Charlotte potatoes
Lots of lovely fresh greens to eat in this box. Having really enjoyed the garlic leaves last week, it is nice to see there is more to come. I love stir-fried chicken noodles and that will definitely be on this week’s menu, using the stirfry pack. The sprouting broccoli has been made into soup (again) and the toddlers have guzzled it up, but it stir fries very well so I hope next time I can finally do something different with it.
I love the sound of the Carluccio’s Sicilian salad on this week’s bag flyer. The mixture of fennel, chicory, oranges and black olives sounds very lively and sunny; just what we need at the moment! It is still pretty cold in the evenings, however, so soup and curry are still firmly on our agenda so we will probably be having a parsnip and apple soup and a nepalese vegetable curry with made with the remaining veg. I’m a bit too tired to be creative this week!
